Introduction to Zen-Mind Filmmaking

An Experiment. A Movement. A Methodology.

Inspired by Zen Buddhism, filmmaker-educator Tzang Merwyn Tong experimented with a new approach to filmmaking using concepts of minimalism, non-attachment and being in here and now to reinvent the practice. Together with a group of filmmakers, two cycles of research was done, with four films made in parameters from a written Zen-Mind manifesto.

The artist-researcher will be making a presentation on the experiment, movement and methodology, together with a premiere of four films, followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers. This sharing is recommended for filmmakers, educators and academics interested in Zen Buddhism's place in filmmaking.
